Taking Stock of the DAD Community of Practice 2009-2011 Report

The white paper “Taking Stock of the DAD Community of Practice – Trends, Challenges, and Good Practices in Aid Information and Development Effectiveness” summarizes the findings of both the 2009 and 2011 DAD CoP conferences. The report synthesizes key issues associated with the convergence of information technology and national development in an accessible manner. The report also contextualizes the DAD CoP by providing a brief history of the DAD, with a particular focus on its continuous evolution to address an ever-broadening scope of government needs.

The first two DAD CoP conferences, held in 2009 and 2011, have sown the seeds of a genuine community of practitioners. Increasingly, countries that have recently embarked on establishing DAD are eager to learn from the experiences of their more seasoned peers. This deep interest in mutual learning and knowledge sharing reflects the fact that, despite widely different developmental contexts, countries often face similar challenges related to managing data for development policy-making.
