Synergy Empowers Digital Transformation in Guyana

In another impactful milestone in the Caribbean, Synergy proudly supported Guyana’s Ministry of Human Services and Social Security (MHSSS) in the implementation a fully digitized Beneficiary Registry and Document Management System (BRDMS). Officially launched in June 2025, the platform is a major step forward in transforming how key government services are delivered—ranging from senior citizens’ pensions and public assistance to permanent disability support. Funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the system replaces a predominantly manual, paper-based process with a modern digital solution.

The state-of-the-art BRDMS digitizes 50 social services and is built to guarantee accountability, transparency, efficiency, and efficacy throughout the Ministry’s operations. It not only enables the migration of data for over 130,000 beneficiaries but also allows all applications to be processed simultaneously—a dramatic improvement in capacity from 21 to 800 concurrent processes. What once took hours or even weeks can now be achieved within minutes, thanks to enhanced tracking capabilities that bolster monitoring and evaluation while strengthening data-driven policy formulation.

At the launch event held at the Ministry’s Head Office, Minister Hon. Dr. Vindhya Persaud, underscored the critical role of modern technology in shaping public service delivery. She explained:

“𝐖𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐈𝐂𝐓, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐀𝐈 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲. 𝐖𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐝 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲, 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.”

The BRDMS not only accelerates processing times but also provides robust tracking for every stage of service delivery. It ensures that no delay impedes access to vital social services. Looking ahead, the system will expand to include additional beneficiaries of other social services offered by the Ministry.

This digital initiative began in 2020 as part of a strong partnership with the IDB, originally focused on supporting vulnerable populations during the COVID-19 pandemic. It has since evolved into a comprehensive effort to modernize traditional systems and usher the Ministry into the digital age. Today, Guyana stands as a national and regional benchmark for digital transformation in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Synergy is honored to have played a pivotal role in this round-the-clock collaborative effort, which continues to drive meaningful change and improve service delivery for citizens across Guyana.
