The Off-line version of the Development Assistance Database (DAD) is a full replica of the On-line DAD that is installed locally on a user’s computer and operates autonomously, without requiring Internet access. This innovative tool is specifically designed to address the needs of developing countries where Internet connectivity is often limited. It enables development stakeholders to take advantage of the full functionality of the On-line DAD and capture the most up-to-date data in an off-line mode.
Key Features and Capabilities
Updating Data Off-line: enables users to work off-line and enter or update project data locally on their computer. |
Querying, Analysis & Reporting Off-line: allows users to perform queries, produce analytical outputs (reports, charts, maps), and create sophisticated and exportable reports that can be then exported into MS Word, MS Excel, and PDF formats, all in an off-line mode. |
Retrieving Data: enables users to transfer the latest project data from the On-line DAD to an Off-line DAD. If there is Internet access, users connect to the On-line DAD and download the latest data directly onto their Off-line version. Otherwise, users request a separate database file containing the latest data, which is then easily imported locally through the Off-line DAD interface. |
Submitting Changes: allows users to transfer data updates made in an Off-line DAD to the On-line DAD through a simple, one-click data synchronization procedure. Users either connect to the On-line DAD to submit data updates directly or export them (through the Off-line interface) to an XML file, which is then submitted to the On-line DAD. |
Verifying User Access Permissions: guarantees that only authorized users can submit changes to the On-line DAD. When installing an Off-line DAD or retrieving the latest data from the On-line DAD, users save locally their On-line DAD access permissions, which determine what actions can be performed while working off-line. The system additionally checks access permissions before submitting changes to the On-line DAD. Changes submitted by a user without appropriate access rights are dropped. | |
Installation of the Off-line DAD is facilitated by an easy, step-by-step installation wizard

Using the same Data Entry forms for collecting data (as in On-line DAD)

Creating Chart-based reports on the data that is available locally (while off-line)

Creating Map-based reports on the data that is available locally (while off-line)
